ST. THOMAS COLLEGE (AUTONOMOUS)

St. Thomas’ College (Autonomous) was founded in 1889 by Mar Adolph Medlicott and is the oldest college in the erstwhile Princely State of Cochin. Recognized as a first-grade college by the University of Madras, it was also the first Catholic college in Kerala, conducted by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur. Affiliated with the University of Calicut, the college gained autonomous status in 2014 and was recognized as a College with Potential for Excellence by the University Grants Commission in 2016. It earned an A++ grade in its fourth cycle of NAAC accreditation in October 2022 and is ranked 57th among colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024.
